I think it is always good to pay attention to your surrounding’s, and keep your personal items out of plain view.

In New York we had a taxi driver that played the I’m lost card it was crazy and yes jacked up our total at the end.

Also, in the Bahamas on a beach we had some kids running a scam if you left your personal items alone as you went in the water they would then take your valuables and deliver them to the adult they were with. They had a whole system down. Be aware of your surroundings.
